This English ivy is a striking tropical houseplant with its vibrant green leaves. This ‘Golden Child’ ivy is a gorgeous variegated hanging plant. Yellow and green variegation makes every angle of this plant absolutely beautiful! A house plant well worth the attention required to keep it vibrant.
With that being said, here are some things to keep in mind when caring for your English ivy.
Care: Things to consider are light, moisture, and temperature.
Peak growth season: Spring/Summer
Sun: Bright shade. I would avoid direct sunlight but some report giving some morning sun with success. Avoid dark corners or areas.
Moisture: Loves humidity! Greenhouses are ideal locations.
In Winter allow top soil to just dry before watering. In Summer allow to dry about 2/3 before watering, try to keep top soil moist but not soggy.
Water with room temperature rain or distilled water for extra pampering. Water in the morning to allow soil to dry more throughly before colder evening temperatures.
Temperature: Keep plant in a room temperature and humid environment. Avoid cold temperatures or drafts. Don’t put by an open window at night or by air vents.
Soil: A peat or coir based soil is recommended. A mixture of peat or coir, some potting soil and some perlite will work. Check your local nursery for similar type of soil.
Propagation: Division. Separate offsets. When time to repot. Repot every two years or so.
