This Opuntia 'Rita Baby' is a happy colorful little purple cactus that you’ll love having in your collection. It's a hard-to-find purple and aqua dwarf prickly pear cactus. The pads turn deep purple in cold temperatures or with increased sun exposure.

This dwarf variety of Opuntia 'Santa Rita' gets 2' tall by 2-3' wide if planted in the ground. It will stay even smaller if kept in a pot. Flowers beautiful pink blooms in the Spring / Summer.

*The flower picture is for reference to show flower color. It is not likely your cactus will have flower buds at the time of shipping.

This type of cactus makes a great potted plant or xeriscape garden plant. We have our personal plant in a pot, even here in the Southwest. This allows us to move it around if necessary.

About the plant you will recieve.

You will receive the plant pictured or one almost identical. It is a rooted, well-established cactus currently growing in a 4” container.

This cactus ships bare root.

Tips for Repotting Cactus Plants

Cactus should be repotted on a warm day, let the roots settle for a day or two in the shade before watering and moving to more sun.

Handling tips: Wet the pad before planting (keeps the tiny hair-like prickers from flying) and use kitchen tongs - with rubber covers over the tips - to handle the cactus without scarring them while repotting.

Plant Details and Tips for Proper Care. Research and observe your plant. Adjust these tips as your zone and plant requires.
